Conducting and Observing a Group Discussion

Objective and concept / उद्देश्य और अवधारणा
Practise facilitating a focused discussion in which members exchange reasons, consider alternatives and agree on a next step. Assess participation and listening rather than treating the longest speech as the best contribution.
केंद्रित चर्चा में कारण, विकल्प और अगला कदम तय कराने का अभ्यास करें। लंबे भाषण के बजाय भागीदारी और सुनने का मूल्यांकन करें।
Materials and preparation / सामग्री और तैयारी
A discussion topic, seating plan, paper, timer and observation checklist.
चर्चा विषय, बैठने की व्यवस्था, कागज, घड़ी और अवलोकन सूची।
Procedure / कार्यविधि
Step 1 / चरण 1
Choose a manageable issue such as maintaining a shared tool. State the purpose and agree on turn-taking and respectful discussion.
साझा औजार रखरखाव जैसा सीमित विषय चुनें। उद्देश्य, बारी और सम्मान के नियम तय करें।
Step 2 / चरण 2
Assign a facilitator, recorder and observer. Begin with an open question and invite experience without demanding that anyone disclose private information.
सुविधाकर्ता, अभिलेखक और पर्यवेक्षक चुनें। खुला प्रश्न तथा अनुभव आमंत्रित करें; निजी जानकारी अनिवार्य न करें।
Step 3 / चरण 3
Clarify points, ask for reasons, encourage quieter members and prevent interruption. Summarise agreement and disagreement accurately.
बिंदु स्पष्ट करें, कारण पूछें, शांत सदस्यों को अवसर दें और बीच में रोकना घटाएँ। सहमति तथा असहमति सही संक्षेपित करें।
Step 4 / चरण 4
Close with agreed action, responsibility and review time. The observer reports behaviour using examples, and the group suggests improvements.
सहमत कार्य, जिम्मेदारी और समीक्षा समय से समाप्त करें। पर्यवेक्षक व्यवहार के उदाहरण और सुधार दे।

Complete this after your actual exercise. Leave unknown items marked “not verified”; the blank format is not a completed field report. / वास्तविक अभ्यास के बाद भरें। अज्ञात को “पुष्टि नहीं” लिखें; खाली प्रारूप पूरा हुआ क्षेत्रीय रिकॉर्ड नहीं है।

Do not manufacture consensus or rank people by personality. Report that no agreement was reached if that is what occurred. Separate observation from your interpretation.
