Propagation structures manage light, temperature, humidity, rain, wind and pests to improve establishment. They do not replace healthy mother stock, suitable media, sanitation and skilled care. Choose the structure for the operation and local climate, not simply the most expensive covering.

A shade house reduces light/heat load; an insect-exclusion house uses suitable mesh with entry management; a greenhouse/polyhouse provides a covered environment with varying control levels. Mist or fog units maintain humidity around cuttings; a propagation bed may provide root-zone heating where required. A naturally ventilated polyhouse is not automatically a fully controlled chamber.

Monitor actual air/root-zone conditions, drainage, water quality and disease pressure. High humidity reduces desiccation but can favour pathogens if aeration and hygiene are poor. Harden rooted plants gradually before transfer to an exposed field. Shade percentage and mist schedules must suit crop, stage and weather.
