Repeated rounds of DNA replication without normal chromosome separation produce many aligned chromatids and giant polytene chromosomes. They are prominent in certain dipteran larval tissues, including Drosophila salivary glands. Dark bands and lighter interbands provide landmarks. Local decondensed puffs indicate high transcriptional activity; a puff is not a newly created gene.

Lampbrush chromosomes are extended meiotic chromosomes, especially evident in growing oocytes of many vertebrates during diplotene. Lateral chromatin loops project from an axis and support intense RNA synthesis. Their brush-like appearance distinguishes them from the banded polytene form. These are specialized chromosome states rather than a separate hereditary material.

लैम्पब्रश गुणसूत्र अनेक कशेरुकी जीवों की बढ़ती अंड कोशिकाओं में डिप्लोटीन अवस्था पर स्पष्ट होते हैं। अक्ष से निकलने वाले पार्श्व लूपों में अधिक RNA संश्लेषण होता है। ब्रश जैसी बनावट इन्हें पट्टीदार पॉलीटीन से अलग करती है। ये गुणसूत्र की विशेष अवस्थाएँ हैं, अलग आनुवंशिक पदार्थ नहीं।
B chromosomes and isochromosomes | B तथा समभुजी गुणसूत्र

B chromosomes are supernumerary elements beyond the normal A complement; their number can vary among individuals. They are often dispensable for normal development but can affect fitness and segregation. An isochromosome has two copies of one arm with loss of the other arm, creating a structural imbalance. It is not simply a normal metacentric chromosome with equal-length arms.

B गुणसूत्र सामान्य A समूह के अतिरिक्त तत्व होते हैं और संख्या व्यक्तियों में बदल सकती है। सामान्य विकास के लिए प्रायः अनिवार्य नहीं, फिर भी अनुकूलता और पृथक्करण पर प्रभाव डाल सकते हैं। आइसोक्रोमोसोम में एक ही भुजा की दो प्रतियाँ तथा दूसरी भुजा की कमी होती है; यह मात्र समान लंबाई की भुजाओं वाला सामान्य गुणसूत्र नहीं है।

Sex chromosomes participate in sex determination and carry other genes as well. Their morphology and role depend on the species. For a comparison answer use origin, tissue/stage, appearance, function and example. Draw polytene bands/puffs and lampbrush lateral loops separately; do not interchange their formation mechanisms.
