Objective and concept / उद्देश्य और अवधारणा
Facilitate local people’s analysis rather than extract a map for an outsider’s report. Use participatory mapping, a transect, seasonal calendar, ranking or Venn diagram according to the question being studied.

Paper or ground space, locally available markers, facilitation guide and a way to preserve a community-approved copy.

Procedure / कार्यविधि
Step 1 / चरण 1
Agree on a purpose and invite different groups. Explain that participants’ knowledge and interpretations lead the exercise.
उद्देश्य सहमति और विविध समूह आमंत्रित करें। लोगों का ज्ञान और व्याख्या मुख्य होना स्पष्ट करें।
Step 2 / चरण 2
Let participants draw a social or resource map and explain access, not merely physical location. A transect records variation across an agreed route.
लोग सामाजिक या संसाधन नक्शा बनाकर केवल स्थान नहीं, पहुँच समझाएँ। तय मार्ग का ट्रांसेक्ट विविधता दर्ज करता है।
Step 3 / चरण 3
Use seasonal calendars for timing and Venn diagrams for institutional importance or relationships. Agree what symbols, sizes and distances mean.

Discuss priorities, compare differing perceptions, validate the output and link it with possible action and responsibility.

A PRA output is a situated community analysis, not automatically a cadastral map or statistically representative survey. Do not redraw it to erase disagreement or expose sensitive household information.
