Germination%=normal seedlings/seeds tested×100. Illustrative four100-seed replicates with88,90,86,92 normal seedlings give356/400=89%. Viability means living seed capable of germination under suitable conditions; dormancy can make viable seed fail an ordinary test. Tetrazolium testing assesses living tissue staining under trained, crop-specific interpretation; staining colour alone is insufficient, so no unsupervised reagent protocol is given.

Broadcasting spreads material; band/side placement targets a zone, while foliar application has different concentration and crop-safety requirements. Separate fertilizer from sensitive seed and roots as prescribed. Suitable timing depends on nutrient mobility, crop demand, soil moisture and irrigation/rainfall risk.
